Results and Accomplishments Over the past 8 years, project volunteers have planted over 120 donated trees and 9 gardens (3 of which are native demonstration gardens) along a one-mile section of this riparian corridor at risk for pollution in the Clinton River Watershed, part of the Great Lakes Basin. It has also placed birdhouses, benches, pet waste stations and trash receptacles, creating a mutually friendly environment for both wildlife and the community to co-exist, re-create, volunteer and learn more about earth-friendly gardening. The project received the 2003, Michigan Recreation and Parks Association, "Community Service Award," Scott’s, 2004 National Finalist "Give Back to Grow" award and the "Michigan Plaque" from "Keep Michigan Beautiful," an organization that promotes outdoor beautification and environmental quality improvement. |
