Resource Challenge Of the 262 miles of Lake Erie shoreline in Ohio, only 15% is publically accessible. The Trust for Public Land is seeking to help conserve an additional one hundred acres at Mentor Marsh. Once completed this land would become a part of a conservation complex that includes Headlands Beach State Park, Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve, and Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve.
In East Sandusky Bay the Trust for Public Land is working with Erie MetroParks, the parks agency of Erie County to protect approximately 125 acres along the Bay as part of the East Sandusky Bay Preserve Metro Park. This will be in addition to 1,200 acres of the preserve that TPL has already helped to protect. |
